My dd Lillianne is definitely not your average teen, or at least I dont think she is.
When she got home from school yesterday she said her group of friends was talking about meeting at the movie theater sometime soon. Our conversation..
L: Can I just tell my friends that you said I couldn't go?
Me: Why don't you want to go?
L: One of my friends is inviting a bunch of girls that I don't want to be around. If it was just our group I would go.
(Her group is 6 girls including her.)
Me: Whatever you want to do is fine with me, but maybe you should just tell your friend that you would rather go in a smaller group.
She texted her friend, and then go back and forth for awhile. Her friend says it can just be the 6 of them. Lilly wants to know specifics though.  Where, when, what movie...and her friend says they'll discuss it later.
L: I'm still not sure I want to go.
Me: Are you nervous about going with just your friends?
L: No, I just think they'll be obnoxious.
Me: Why?
L: Just loud and annoying.
Me: You mean acting like silly teenagers?
L. I guess. If they do I'll just sit somewhere else.
Funny her one friend calls her grandma Lilly. My friends used to call me mother Jen (like mother hen.)

At least you've got a sensible girl! (It's probably a trade off with her paranoia. )
Friends aren't people you particularly like for any special reason. You just like people because they're your friends.

Love it - Sounds very much like my two teens.
My son was supposed to visit a schoolmate last weekend and hang out. The talk turned to doing graffiti (they were studying it in Graphic Design class) and the one teen assured my son they were doing it at his house on a large garage wall his parents said he could use. About an hour before we were heading over there, my son found out the kid lied and they were going into town to do it. So he declined the invite and came and told me about it. He wasn't comfortable with any of it, especially the lying.
My dd is the same way.
Sounds like you have a smart dd - maybe she knew that group could get into trouble and she didn't want to be guilty by association.

Sounds like a great kid!
And for the record -- I have "not allowed" many things my girls just didn't want to do! Latest one - MY Lily doesn't want to ride with her BFF driving, because L says she is an awful driver. SOOOOOO, her Dad and I don't ALLOW her to ride with anyone...

But I always say that if either of my girls want to use me as an excuse for something like that, sure!
Lily's problem is that she doesn't want to hurt BFF's feelings, but also doesn't want to ride with her!
