Nah, Hallowe'en was 2 weeks ago....

Does anyone else think they're creepy or is it only me?

I've never seen them out! And I've not seen many pics of them at that, never paid much attention to them I guess. Guess I should google before I tell my dd "we'll see."

we had a very similar elf on our tree as a kid.

I would love to do the Elf on a Shelf and I don't even have little kids!

I will add I also always hated the entire "you'd better be good" thing. Even as a young child, my attitude was "take me as I am" & I thought one month of good behavior shouldn't change what I got or didn't get as a reward.

Neither do we. The only Father Christmas and reindeer stuff that I have is designed to make things which go straight out of the door.

I paid a heap to get one freighted over to here, I hope it comes soon, DD has been really down so I thought it'd be a fun thing to do with her, hide it every night etc. we need some excitment happening as Xmas has come around too fast for us this year.

I find them creepy. My SIL gave us one about 5 years ago before they were so popular. I got rid of it almost immediately. Now that they're huge, I 'm realizing I should have sold mine instead of just giving it away!

I've not paid much attention, just saw them on tv commercials, moving around, kids finding them, etc. I wasn't sure it was a thing to buy for your house. I'll have to check them out. Sound creepy tho. Not like I want Chucky around!!

Kim, the doll itself isn't creepy, it's quite cute. It's the concept that you give the kids that it is watching them that is creepy. And that it can be blamed for misdemeanours. That's not an idea I would want to begin in my home if I had children who might not understand that it's just a game.
