My friend just had a baby and I want to bring her some casserole or dessert when I come visit. Her daughter has a lactose intolerance so I want to avoid dairy as much as possible. Ideas? Tried and true dishes? Links and recipes will be much appreciated!

Pulled bbq pork (or beef) and a side of freezer mashed potatoes they can fix as needed.

Check out some freezer crockpot meals, they can be prepped and ready for the new mom or dad to pop into the cooker early in the day. Usually not much dairy in those dishes.

Soup! So easy to reheat and no thawing required!

Apple turnovers (cheat and use pillsbury dough if time is tight), any kind of cookies, or quick bread. How about rice pudding made with lactose free milk?

What a nice thing to do Vivi.

I would put braising steak in a crock pot with stock, a pile of vegetables and a little flour to thicken it. Simple to prepare, tastes fantastic, keeps well and is dairy-free.
