I was given the starter the other day by a friend. Will be interesting to see what it's like.

If you have had it.... What variations have you done and liked?

It is good, but addicting. We always seemed to keep another starter for ourselves. I think we just stuck to the original recipe. It's been years, so I'm not sure.

Oh my! I end up with several starters then make about 30 loaves just to kill it off!!! I make small loaves and freeze them for later. I am glad you posted this, I think I will pull one out for tomorrow!

Wow Stephanie......that would be Ian interesting day in the kitchen!

Ooooooooooooh chocolate .....double chocolate in fact.... Great idea!

My friend said she adds bananas.....she's away now for a month so I can't ask her. I just have to keep the starter going until she gets home.......scary..... Hope I don't kill it.

Yeah, there's no killing it! If you google it, you'll find a zillion recipe ideas. I usually stick with the original, but I've done pancakes, muffins, and other random stuff just to try it out.

Love it! Of course I done the regular vanilla, but we've also tried chocolate, pumpkin, cinnamon, and egg nog. Most of those you can only get at holiday time though. I've thought of doing banana and lemon but never have yet.

Just getting prepared for Wednesdays bake day. I want to make some for the freezer and one for eating and one for my son to munch on.
