He was born on Weds and they spent the first few hours resusitating him. He was a week overdue and swallowed the merconium. They had him on an oscillator up until today and also a chest tube. They took that out as well. He's still under too much stress to really get a good look at his heart and they have a spinal tap scheduled for tomorrow to check for viruses or infections. He was 10'2oz and 22" long!
Today my sis-in-law and bro got to hold him for the first time! Some of the med they gave him costs $12,000 a dose and he's in the NICU, so I told my brother he'd better have a smart kid to pay for his own college 
Anyway, he's not out of the clear, and is still really sick, but he's made positive improvements.
In a few more days, I'll get to add another niece & nephew to my family! [image][/image] 
and yes, he's got Asian hair, he's 1/4 Japanese.

He's absolutely precious. And I will be praying for him.
I have a niece who had to be resucitated at birth, she drowned in the amniotic fluid during birth because she was stuck in the birth canal and they suspected that she swallowed the Merconium. She spent days in the NICU and wasn't allowed to eat for the first 36 hours of her life. She went through two IV lines, countless tests, poor baby looked like a pin cushion when we went to take her and her momma home (our vehicle had air conditioniing and hers didn't) Absolutely pitiful. But we were all just happy that she was here with us. Now she is 3 months old, and the only lasting health effects she has is problems with formula allergies (milk and soy) and acid reflux. She has to be fed Neutramgen with rice cereal added to it. But aside from that, "Care Bear" is a happy and healthy baby.

thanks everyone. I am happy with his little steps towards being healthy. Still a lot of questions, but we can tell he's a fighter and that's always good.
