I just joined Scrapjazz today. What made me stumble upon the site and decide to join, was me searching the internet for "frugal" scrapbooking ideas.
One delima that I've stumbled upon is the simple fact that I don't like 12x12's. I mean, yes, they do seem to have plenty of space for practically everything, but for me they are just too big. And I don't like the "brag" book albums either because they are too small. I seem to have fallen in love with 8.5x11 albums.
But, since I began scrapbooking in January, around my 33rd birthday, my family has had to alter our budget, so my "scrap allowance" has gotten smaller due to 1/2 of that allowance having to go towards monthly injections for my oldest son. My DH didn't have to give up any of his hobby allowance because his hobby is researching genealogy online and typing up a very detailed family tree...so I guess he doesn't have a "hobby expense".
And recently, my 10 yr. old niece has contracted the scrapbooking bug from me. I had quite a bit of pink, girly things that I would never use that came in some kits. so I gave them to her along with an album whose cover I didn't like. She's been addicted ever since and is constantly asking me, "Aunt Ali, do you have any more scrap stuff that you don't want?".
Anyways, I've rambled enough for now. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome and look forward to you joining in. Sorry to hear that your scrapbooking budget was cut. I hope your son is ok.
Any questions you have, just ask. If you want to just chat about other things pop into the lounge.

Hi Ali and welcome!
My niece is 9 and she loves crafting too. Isn't it wonderful to have little ones who are just as passionate about our interests as we are?
Come and say Hi in the Lounge as well? We have a few "frugal scrappers" who are very willing to share their good ideas and experience.

I do like the fact that my niece has contracted the scrapbooking bug. Unfortunately, I'm a little sad that neither one of my boys did. I want my boys to get actively involved in "scrapbooking" so that we can get some homeschool yearbooks done.

Yes, male scrap-bookers are a rare breed indeed.

Hi and welcome. My very first scrapbook was 8 1/2 x 11, and I still use that size for my children's school albums. To switch things up a little in those albums, I sometimes turn the page sideways so that I'm actually scrapbooking 11 x 8 1/2. It breaks the monotony, and it seems to give me more room to work with.

That's a good idea! No different from putting photos in an album either landscape or portrait. I don't scrap 8.5x11 but it hadn't even occurred to me to change the orientation.

Hi and welcome!
I'd recommend having a browse through the Gallery (up the top, 3rd tab from the left) and in the Search option, put in Wedding. There are hundreds of absolutely beautiful wedding pages for inspiration. Debbie (DeblynA) has just finished her daughter's album and it's gorgeous.
And to find out how to put it all together, look through the Learning tab (5th from the right), and start with Scrapbooking Basics.
You'll need an album (choose between 8.5"x11" or 12"x12"), card-stock, some pretty patterned papers, adhesive, and embellishments. Have a look through the Store here for paper and embellishments, or the Scrapbook.com store for other things.
I hope that's enough to get you started? Please feel free to come back and ask any questions you need to. Don't be afraid to start your own topic.
And above all, have fun!
