I am looking to get a Embossing Machine. I dont know what one to get the Cuttlebug or Sizzix. I think the Sizzix one I did use at one of the stores so I have tried it. I would like to get one that I can use all the dies in. so if I got the sizzix I would like to be able to use cuttlebug embossing folders in it and if there are other ones out there. can you tell me what one you like better and what you use in it and why you like it better than the other.

Are you talking about the Sizzix Big Shot? If so, yes, you can use any of the dies/folders as long as they fit width-wise.

The biggest difference between the Cuttlebug and Big Shot is that the Cuttlebug folds up and the Big Shot doesn't. While that means it takes up less space, I find it's not as easy to use because the "wheelbase" so to speak is a lot smaller on the Cuttlebug, plus you need the suction foot on the bottom, so you can't really use it on some surfaces. I find the Big Shot is sturdier. The opening is just a tiny bit wider as well.

I have the cuttlebug. I've never had an issue with the suction cup because whether it holds to the surface or not, I hold the top with my other hand anyway. I like that it takes up less space. I don't have my own room and space is a premium for me. Also, if you like to travel with it, it's easier to take 'to go' I would imagine.

I have sizzix's texture boutique - it doesn't do die cutting - only embossing - and I love it, but you can't use large folders in it, just card size

I am thinking it is the Sizzixs teture boutique the one MindySue is talking about. I do know it can only emboss. so MindySue with the cuttlebug work in it?

Yes, the cuttlebug folders work in the sizzix texture boutique. If that's the one you're considering, I'd go with the cuttlebug. You never know if you might want to use dies and you won't be able to in that one. I have a cricut but I still use dies from time to time in my cuttlebug and I can cut felt and other things in it if I want to. I've used it to make foam stamps with craft foam.

I have bought both - the boutique and the cuttlebug. I returned the cuttlebug. Primarily because I could get a cuttlebug for half the price and had the option of using die cuts if I so desire. If your consideration is between primarily embossing, you may also want to consider the Spellbinders Grand Calibur. To be honest, I prefer anything above the sizzix cutting/embossing machines - I have never been impressed.

I went with the texture boutique because I do not need to die cut - and that made the price much cheaper - which is what I needed. all the folders work in it, just as long as they aren't the extra large size. it is very easy to use, no need to worry about special "sandwiching", if that makes sense.

I have a cuttlebug and the original sizzix. I use my cuttlebug just about every time I scrap/make cards...my sizzix is on the top shelf of my closet collecting dust.

I have a cuttlebug, and have found it to be functional and space saving....works with heaps of different dies, the sizzix I have used in the past was very heavy and needed to be in its own space...not very portable (that was a log time ago and no dobt they have improved the design)

I want one too, but don't know what one to get either. I was thinking about the one Mindy has.

You never know if you might want to use dies. Especially if you find some on a really good clearance deal (which is how I got most of mine). Go with the cuttlebug and not the texture boutique. Here's a blog post where I made foam stamps with it. (I also made some words ones, but it's not in the blog post.)

This layout shows stamping I did with a Disney word stamp I made. (Though a lot of it is covered.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/learnings af...

Thank you for all the info on this. I did get Micheals coupon for 50% off. they only had the sizzix. so I went with it. I am going to keep an eye out for the cuttlebug and price on it. I do have the old sizzix when it first came out. and the sidekick. I hate to say I dont use them to much. I have a cricut so I think for just what I want to do and with the cuttlebug working in it I think for now this will work. I really just want the embossing so for $15.00 I dont think that was bad for what I want to do now. thanks again for all the help and info on this.
