I'm thinking of putting together a blank scrap book for my DIL for my grandson who will be arriving in February. I've never done a book without pic's. Any tips/advice??

I know she'll put the pics in because she's a scrapper too -- but since she's never put together a wedding album, figured I'd give her a jump on things with baby since she'll have less time once he arrives.

Steph M was working on one of these a few weeks ago. She did chipboard pages and covered them in toning paper, then she was going to punch them and decorate with pastel colours, all yellows, greens and purples. She did mats for each page in papers from the opposite page, and was going to give each page a number for each month for the first year, and decorate with shapes from a Cricut cartridge.

So Steph - how did it go? Are you ready to post pics yet?

you should also check out youtube for mini album videos - there are a TON of predone mini albums that don't have the photos. Also, think about scraplifting or using sketches and just not adding the photo.

A while back, there was a post about the types of pages to include for the new baby - I think it was about the 1st year, so all the mom had to do was put in the photos.

I wasn't exactly thinking of doing a mini-book. I usually scrap 12x12's and was thinking of doing this. Am I nuts??

No you can do 12x12, but you could get ideas of how to decorate, the types of layout/spreads to use

Probably not as important since the recipient is a scrapper, but I always place mats where the pictures go and I always prep them for "normal" uncropped photo sizes. That way they can just print their pics and glue them down, no need to crop, etc. I've done several baby books in 12x12. It's a lot of work, but I liked being able to have room for more than one pic on a page.

I have done many 8 x 8 books this way. You can do a month by month book. Or what I usually do is holidays and milestones. All the firsts, KWIM? If you look in my gallery I have some in there.
