At the end of last year, I made the decision to leave my old school to go down a grade and double my commute. I decided to leave a team and many other people whom I absolutely loved and return to a school I had taught at 2 years prior. It was a hard decision, but I had come to the hard realization that I just wasn't happy. I was ornery and just didn't realize how unhappy I was. It wasn't until DH commented when I started looking at the school further away. He said he had noticed how unhappy I was. I thought I had done a good job of hiding it, guess not.
Anyway, I'm 6 weeks in and while not every minute is happiness and the commute is never fun. I am happy. I'm smiling when I think about work, even when I think of the hard things that go on at work.
I didn't know if I'd like Jenna being at my school, as she has never attended my school. In fact, up until the week before school started, she was going to her home school. She was accepted into my school's gifted program, so we let her come. The things they do with the gifted kids at my school in the program is amazing and I'm excited for her to finally get that push. Here's what I've discovered about Jenna being at my school:
1) I love getting to drive in the carpool lane, perk I had never thought about.
2) I love have an extra set of hands in the AM/PM who still thinks it's fun to help
3) Even though we don't say much in the car, I love that she tells me more.
3b) She understands that I'm not a big fan of talking in the morning because I'm a grump and she's ok with that
4) I love getting to see her as I pick up my kids from lunch and she's still ok with giving me a hug. I didn't know if she'd be too cool for that.
5) I love getting the emails about what is going on at the school I teach. Normally the PTA forgets to send emails to teachers so we don't usually get those emails or phone calls.
6) While I didn't have a doubt in my mind, all the teachers who come across her, absolutely love her and tell me how funny she is.
7) She's drawn the line that I can't talk about her to her teacher in the faculty room because everyone else gets to hear about the cute things she says/writes. She never knew when her teacher would show my mom and the office. She writes the cutest things and really likes to share it with others, just doesn't want to know I talk to her teacher daily about her. Even though she knows I've known all her other teachers.
So, TLDR: I am happy. Not every second of every day. But I am exponentially happier than I was at this time last year. In fact, at this time last year, I ended up having to take a week of to de-stress. (Thankfully it was a 3 day week)
Thank you SJ ladies for your support and dealing with my moodiness over the past year. I tried to just follow Thumpers rule and I'm hoping I followed it well enough to not offend everyone.

Good, good, good!
Do you find that when you're happier, the physical problems improve?

Michelle! It is wonderful to have a difficult decision validated so well! I am glad that both you & Jenna are happy with the change (as I am sure DH is, too)!

Good for you. Just wondering (I used to teach), were parents part of the problem at the other school?

That is fabulous!! It is always so much easier when a decision you were scared to make works out how you wanted it too. I think it is a nice perk to have Jenna there too. I am hoping Char will still talk to me by the time she comes to the HS in two years.

I'm able to better deal with the pain & fatigue when I'm happy. I'm still exhausted, but that's pretty much expected. My team at my old school was great, but it's hard to understand a chronic issue if you don't live w/it KWIM? (Just like I don't understand all that those w/thyroid problems go through). The other teacher on my team has a lot of the same issues that I do, plus some, so it helps.

I was hoping that was the case.
I'm sorry your co-worker suffers as well though - that's tough.
