Please tell us how Aiden is getting on? You said he has 2 days of school and 3 days of therapy, and we saw that adorable vid of his body parts, but tell us more? His progress? What the teachers say? Has he settled down at home now? Caring hearts want to know!

I guess I'm long overdue in giving an update. I'll start with some recent pictures.

We took him to the local walking track that goes around Unaka High School's football field. Aiden wanted to run around on the field and one of the coaches was there to tell us it was fine to let him play. He didn't know that Aiden would go to every goal marker and turn them over. I really meant to go back and fix it but I completely forgot. I guess they had a surprise at the next practice

Right now he goes to school on Tuesday and Wednesday with Therapy on Monday, Wed, and Friday. He still adores school and the teachers tell me he's sweet and easy to have in the class. We still don't see him playing much with the other kids, it's almost as if he doesn't exactly know what to do. He enjoys watching them run around and gets very excited if they run or jump near him.

Therapy is going well also, the melt downs have cut down significantly! He is gaining new words all the time but still a little sporadic in using them. He uses Momma and Dada all the time, as well as "more" along with the sign to tell us he wants to play more, or have more to eat. He calls any liquid "apple" so we know when he says that it means he's thirsty. He can read and say his Alphabet, count to 10...saying them and counting things. He loves to count my toes He knows how to use the word "hurt" which is huge! He can name most of his body parts so he'll say "hurt head or hurt whatever" and point at that body part to tell us what's wrong. He says "catch" when we are playing ball with him, I'm sure there are others but for now those are the biggies.

The most important thing to me is that he's happy. He is almost always playing and giggling. He's shocking his Doctors by how affectionate he is with Derrick and I. He loves being kissed and cuddled. I keep telling them we've just done it so much he's decided he might as well enjoy it lOL.

I'm glad the therapy is helping. The social interaction will eventually happen too.

Thank you Kim, that's sincerely wonderful news. I'm just so glad the meltdowns are subsiding. I know how draining they are for all of you.

How does he like the computer thingy in the last frame? I saw one at Sam's Club and was thinking about picking one up for my soon to be two-year old nephew.

Oh my goodness that thing is a LIFESAVER! We take it with us when we go out to eat, grocery store, in the car and it keeps him distracted from all the other stuff going on that normally sets him off. My Sister got it for him for his Bday and I feel like kissing her everytime he uses it! It IS pink btw because that's the only color they had when she picked it up and we so don't care about that sort of thing.

Being affectionate is a good sign, isn't it? A sign that he's understanding a lot of social cues, if not all of them yet. He's still a babe - he'll get there Kim.
