As everyone is aware of, I haven't exercised in years but have been trying to get into better shape and take better care of myself.
Chris told me about a 36 mile bike ride this Saturday and I said sure, I'd like to try it.
Tonight, I took the kids to Baker Youth Club and went for a 10 mile ride all by myself. I am sure I will make it the 18 miles there, but not so sure I am going to be able to make it back! Start to finish, it took me 36 minutes. I don't know if that is good or bad, but I am soaked with sweat - so it was good for me!
I also have my fingers crossed that my (padded) bike shorts get here tomorrow - or more than my legs will be hurting
Then on Sunday, we signed up for a 100 mile charity motorcycle ride - I must be !
But boy, I am sure having fun!!

Ummmm it might be fun, don't give up! But hope that you aren't too sore on Sat. from testing.
Motorcycles are easy, just sit still, hold on tight, and lean when he leans. Dh always was impressed that I tucked my head down behind him when he 'went over the speed limit'. LOL
Go for it,

36 minutes sounds good to me! You'll be fine. Bring plenty of water and know that you can always take a break if you need it. It's relatively flat where I typically ride so I can take "breaks" while riding by coasting, standing on the pedals to stretch my legs, etc. Rest tomorrow. If you enjoy it, invest in a pair of gel bike shorts - they are well worth EVERY cent.

I've got 3 bottles in the freezer - so I think that will be good. It is a fairly flat ride and I did stand on the pedals a few times tonight.
Tomorrow is First Frdays here, so we will walk that for a couple hours, have a drink and eat some junk food.
I will look into the gel; he regularly rides so he is much more prepared for Saturday.
He is not such a fan of organized motorcycle rides and is doing it for me. I've never done one.

I wasn't sure I would, so I borrowed Chris' bike for a couple days. I ended up ordering my own.

Something I learned.........and it sounds a bit gross.......go commando.
Serious!!!!!!!! No knickers under the bike pants. If you are doing a long ride the knickers can Rub places you don't want rubbed.
I did not heed the warning and paid the price with a nasty graze on my nether regions

The ride was a road ride, into the wind up and down hills. Took me an hour and a half to go 17.something miles and I was done! Sat in the center of town sipping a coffee while Chris rode back to Warsaw, got the truck, and came and got me.
Sore today, but not miserable, thank God.
I am proud of myself, but wishful tht I had tried to make it back - oh well, I'll just train for next year!!
